About

“Now, me and the mad scientist got to rip apart the block... and replace the piston rings you fried.” -Dom

bio

Not much to say for now. My name is Jason, I'm 29, I live in Glasgow, I like Scooter and chip music. My sole ambition in life is to play AD&D with Vin Diesel.

work

Software developer currently specialising in Cocoa and Ruby on Rails, also dangerous with PHP and Javascript. Fluent in various other languages (C, C++, Java). I'm available for consultancy work through my company, Magic Lamp. We've got a Mac/iPhone side-project under the name Garage Duo, too.

contact

If you want to contact me regarding anything you've seen here, my contact details are below (they're in order of preference). I don't have a comment system on my site because it's just more crap that needs to be moderated and managed. Who really needs more crap in their life?

the tech bit no one gives a shit about

This site is powered by a custom PHP hack application built on a handful of libraries: geshi, php-helpers, php-lifestream, spyc and static-ish. Version controlled by git, deployed by capistrano.

The header/nav font is OCR-A, and has an interesting history that's well worth reading if you're into font nerdery. The particular version I'm using is freely available in TrueType format and is embedded using the CSS @font-face directive.

This site uses a bunch of new CSS3 (and some webkit-only) features so it will look best on a recent version of Firefox or Safari (and maybe Konqueror? I don't use a Linux desktop much these days...). They're both free so there's no excuse not to be using one or the other. The site should be at least bearable on Internet Explorer, however.
